To design or not to design?

That does seem to be the question. Everyone seems to think if you are hiring a Design & Build firm that somehow the job has to be epic in scope to “justify” the design process & price. The truth of the matter is really simple. By hiring a design professional you are saving hours and hours of time and sparing yourself a lot of indecision. A good designer can tap into your likes and dislikes very quickly and has a lot of experience to guide you to a final choice in much less time.

The design process for a small to average job is anywhere between 1500.00 - 5000.00. That sounds like an investment but at the end of the day I PROMISE you that it pays for itself for the following reasons.

  • Saves countless hours going to multiple stores or looking at endless websites.

  • They know where the real value of any project lies and can make sure that is where money is allocated.

  • On the flip side they also know where you should save money and can guide that process as well.

  • They are also knowledgeable about industry pricing and can educate you on where your money is best spent.

  • Plus, they are just really fun people and can add a lot of joy to the process!

The point I want to make is this. By spending money up front you are going to be saving time, frustration, and more money in the end. Overall I would say that it’s actually reducing project cost totals and making the whole process easier.

Even on very small projects we use Designers because we know it’s money well spent and it’s going to add value to your experience as a whole.
